Perseverance is key to success!

Mathis Deschênes Meunier, living with ADD, dyslexia and dysorthographia

My name is Mathis Deschênes Meunier and I'm 12 years old. As a baby, I had a ruptured left arachnoid cyst that caused me a global developmental delay. I live with ADD, dyslexia and dysorthographia.

At 18 months, Mathis had a ruptured left arachnoid cyst, for which he is still being monitored and which has led to a global developmental delay. He lives with ADD, dyslexia and dysorthographia.

A persevering child, Mathis benefits from adapted activities and academic support in his regular Grade 5 class. He receives extensive speech therapy and attends the Maison des jeunes de Labelle, a wonderful place where he learns to socialize more outside school and develops his independence.

Charming, brave and quick-witted, Mathis loves playing video games and skiing. He also started snowboarding lessons last year. One day, he'd love to have a job related to science. As he says, "My challenge is that I always have to put in more effort than my friends, but I'm willing to put in the hard work!"

Thank you Fondation Tremblant for your help with speech therapy and the activities at the Maison des jeunes de Labelle!

For Mathis' family, the 24h means... a way of showing him that it's thanks to all of you that he's had so much help. To show him that his perseverance and resilience have been worthwhile, and that lots of people care about children's success. To show him that he's not alone in living with "I don't know".

Thank you for being an important part of this vast wave of solidarity!

You’re giving children hope for a brighter future through various programs and research projects funded by the 24h and its beneficiaries: Fondation Charles-Bruneau, CHEO Foundation, CHU Sainte-Justine Foundation, The Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation and Fondation Tremblant.

Your donations matter. They make a real difference in the lives of Mathis and thousands of children.
