Liam is just six years old but has an incredibly intense life story for one so young. Behind a gentle gaze and love for dogs is a little boy who has survived a wrenching ordeal. In May 2024, life for Liam and his family was turned upside down with the diagnosis of embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare form of cancer with a tumour measuring about five centimetres in the nasopharynx, accompanied by metastases to the lungs. The diagnosis marked the beginning of a difficult journey filled with treatments, hospitalizations, examinations under anaesthesia and countless moments of worry and waiting.

Over 16 months, Liam faced these challenges with remarkable strength. Chemotherapy sessions, stays at CHUS Fleurimont, proton therapy in Boston, and radiotherapy in Montreal disrupted his daily life. Separated from his siblings, daycare centre, and friends, Liam met each hurdle with his gentle spirit and an extraordinary ability to keep smiling.

In remission since 2025, Liam is now slowly getting back to the things that matter to a child: school days with friends, running, playing and trying new activities. He enjoys hoverboarding, his electric Jeep, building blocks and crafts. One of the most cherished parts of his life is his dogs, Balou and Bella – loyal companions who hold a special place in his heart and have been by his side through every moment.

For his parents Andréanne et Danny, “When Liam got sick, everything changed, but especially our outlook on life. Today, we live more slowly and love more strongly. We appreciate all the little things life has to offer.”

Liam describes himself in surprisingly mature terms: “Even when things were going badly, I learned that I’m stronger than I thought. My biggest wish is for my family to be healthy and happy, without sickness or worry.”
