Hello, my name is Arianne. I am 17 years old and I have type B ALL (acute lymphoblastic leukemia).
The illness came into my life just before I turned 16, in April 2020. Ever since I was very young, I have been in competitive sports, and I never had any health problems. In the winter of 2020, I started to feel severe pain in my knees, felt very tired, and had frequent headaches. When I got the diagnosis, I was hospitalized at the CHUL in Quebec. My life and that of my family was turned upside down in just a few hours. Over time, the drop in my immune system created other complications, an infection attacked my lungs and went into my brain. In spite of all the good care I received, they had to remove the upper left lobe of my lung. This year, I will be starting Cegep and I will be on maintenance chemotherapy. Some days are harder than others, but I keep a positive attitude about it all!
It is thanks to research that I will get well. Thank you Fondation Charles-Bruneau!
