Julien puts a face to the 24h of cycling, providing us all with great motivation. He is a genuine representation of the thousands of young people that live every day fighting this disease and he is testimony that you should never give up.
An exceptional young boy lives in our region. His name is Julien Pratte. His journey is quite different to most. At the age of 3, a tumour was discovered in his brain, and since then he has undergone multiple medical interventions and chemo-therapy treatments.
Julien will be 11 this year and he continues to battle. He is very knowledgeable and fully understands what his body is and has been experiencing. He is a charming young boy, full of life and a bright spirit, which inspires the young and old that are graced by his presence.
For the 2nd year running, we are proud to announce that Julien will be one of the 24h of cycling ambassadors, mostly because he loves the sport so much. He is often seen riding on the many mountain bike trails in our region, and even has a trail named after him, ‘La Julien’.
“I love biking so much and I am thrilled to be able to participate in the event with my older brothers.’’ Born into a family that is compassionate and very active, his parents steadily encourage him and want him to lead a normal life. His mother, Isabelle Rochefort, explains: “You have to live day by day, even if sometimes it is more difficult, you need to put the illness aside. We spend a lot of time together as a family, enjoying many sporting activities. Cycling keeps us in shape and lets us spend many quality moments together. We have 4 boys, so our lifestyle is quite dynamic and active, which is great for Julien.”
Julien puts a face to the 24h event, providing us all with great motivation. He is a genuine representation of the thousands of young people that live every day fighting this disease and he is testimony that you should never give up, you must keep on living life to the fullest, and stay positive; the true spirit and foundation of the 24h events.
As part of Julien’s involvement in the 24h of cycling, we are happy to announce that once again the 24h will kick-off with Julien’s Tour , an activity that provides a wonderful opportunity for our youth to participate in the 24h fundraising.
