Important message
It is with deep regrets that the organizing committee learned the tragic news, Mrs Barbara Pollock passed away Sunday, March 21st 2010. Founder of Formula Charity and the 24h relay in Villars Switzerland, the 24h of Tremblant was created, thanks to the initiative of Jacques Villeneuve, Craig Pollock and Barbara Pollock. Her vision was to develop a similar event in Quebec, this is how the 24h was created here in Tremblant, in 2001. This extraordinary contribution has had tremendous results for our beneficiaries throughout the years and the tradition of Formula Charity is still going strong, ten years later. The committee would like to offer their most sincere condolences to Barbara’s family and everyone who was close to this exceptional woman who inspired us all by her courage, her generosity, and the impact she had on many charitable organizations.
Thank you Barbara |
In 1998, Jacques Villeneuve and Craig Pollock founded a non-profit association called Formula Charity. Their mission was to create events to raise money for childhood illnesses. Shortly after the creation of Formula Charity, the association hosted a large-scale annual event in Switzerland, the 24h de Villars, to raise money for a charitable cause in the host region.
When the Grand Prix 24h de Villars comes to town, a festive atmosphere pervades the mountain and village, and Villars-sur-Ollon becomes THE place to be in Switzerland. At this grand event, celebrities from the Formula 1 circuit mingle with the business community, as well as with sports, music and fashion celebrities, to raise money for sick children.
In December 2001, Formula Charity introduced the event to Québec, hosting the first edition of the 24h de Tremblant. The Canadian event was a major success, thanks in part to the European experience, and its future looks extremely promising.
The 24h de Tremblant is THE social rendezvous of the year, where the general public, business people, media reps, and artists and celebrities congregate to raise money for childhood diseases. The 24h de Tremblant is a festive celebration that brings together philanthropists and sport enthusiasts.
This charitable event is now an annual tradition in Québec and the 7th annual North American edition will be run on the slopes of Tremblant December 11 to 13, 2009. Mr. Pierre Rodrigue (President Astral Media Radio) will assume the Presidency.
The 24h de Tremblant is proud to support various children’s causes. For the fifth consecutive year, the Fondation Centre de cancérologie Charles-Bruneau, their mission is to increase the odds of finding a cure for children with cancer by providing financial assistance for the creation, maintenance and development of the Centre de cancérologie pédiatrique Charles-Bruneau.
From the outset, this event has also raised funds for Fondation Tremblant to help under-privileged children in the Mont-Tremblant region. This year, we are pleased to announce that the Ottawa Senators Foundation will be implied, again. It supports programs designed to improve the quality of life for underprivileged children and youth, is also associated with the event.
The 24h de Tremblant is the most highly anticipated event of the winter!
An event of this magnitude wouldn’t be possible without the commitment of the following partners:
